How would you classify Lebron James defensively?

Does he have the potential to be one of the best? Is he already on of the best in your perception? Or will he be another T-Mac, Ignorant to Defense,( No offense to T-Mac). We all know how offensively capable players like Kobe, Garnett, and Jordan are/were. However, it was their defense that propelled themeselves, and their teams. What are your thought's on Lebron's defense?

How would you classify Lebron James defensively?nba salary

Lebron...........I look at it like this (which someone already gave an example) Jordan, Bill Russell, K.G., Kobe, Scottie Pippen and Shaq are on the A+ list for me (remember for me) they all had this kenetic energy that teammates and other players fed off of, it just gravitates around the team!!

Lebron like some again said, is at best a c+ defensive player........his first 3 years I would of ranked him @ a D+ but that D+ came with him not huslting back all the time.......this season he actaully has risin.....espessaly one game that he proved me worng.......against the the Lakers and end up beating them. He also didn't just beat them he challenged Kobe defensively......and did great job!!! That specific game earned him an A+ on offense and defense (Although its one game its a start......but all around I feel he should be a better defensive player.

1) look @ his body, not to many players that wgt that much and can shift from 1-5 like that....thats just amazing!!!

2) Although a lot of plp can critizise T-Mac he had his best season in 2001 or 2002 don't remeber.....but when he was screwd when Grant Hill was injuired he took the responsibitly and played every positoin on the court (defensively and offensively) and being way skinner than Lebron.....and hell'd up pretty decently....Lebron's younng so he's got sooooooooooo much time to improve and commit himself to defense.

3)I will defend Lebron on the fact that when you really don't have players or teammates that can score or at least chip in 10-15pts a night other than Big-Z your focusing on one thing.......win the game and your team (s) defense surly won't get the job done...........so you have to use all your energy on the offensive side!! While defensivly your not that effective!!

Hope that gets me 10pts

thabks Report It

He's a C+ defender right now. Which is really good for a Superstar, because most superstars don't play defense at all (i.e: all these guys get an F grade for defense - Micheal Redd, Vince Carter, Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony and so on). But he's getting better on defense every year, I think this is Lebrons first season he's ever averaged a block a game. I think he would be a better defender if he had some offensive help. The reason I say that, is because sense he has to excert so much energy on the offensive side of the ball, because he has no help on offense and his defense takes a hit for it. In his defense though, he isn't a defensive liability, because he did help the Cavs have the 8th best overall defense in the league.
What up Mr. Legendary,

i think LeBron really improved defensively this season. Before this season i would say that LeBron was not a good defensive player. But he has really worked hard on that part of his game and if he's committed to continue to improve he most certainly has the physical gifts to be a good defender and possibly a great defender.

Nickster
He's ok at best right now. Statistically he isn't really that bad, but he has a lot of breakdowns on defensive assignments in games. He doesn't always get back on defense quick enough. But he does intercept passes well, and he has the size to really bother opponents. He's just focused more on scoring.
He's a better defender than people give hime credit for. This year he's really improved. He had 4 steals and 3 blocks last game. Not a fantastic defender but he has the potential to be, with his athleticism. And he's doing a great job in this series.
For ppl to say he cant play D at all is ridiculous.

He's 6'8, 250 lbs. and very quick!

from what i see when i watch him play is he can play good defense, not GREAT, but good. his D will only get better in time and age ppl.
lebron, is more of a soft defender, cause he focuese more on offense.
His on-the-ball defense has improved this season but he's still not a good defensive player by any means. I would say he's average at best.
No where near Jordan's level. He won a defensive player of the year and was voted nine times to the all defensive first team. Lebron will never be there.
in the season he averaged 7.9 rebounds per game

and in the playoffs he averaging 8.4 rebounds per game

hes not that bad for a small forward
He is a very classy player but not defensive at all. Ronnie got a flag 2 last night. Pierce should have got T up for the foul on LG holding him like that he could have hurt LG a lot more contact than he needed
He can't unless if its a fast break and hes trailing and comes up with a block but thats all
He cant play defense
hes like T-mac he is not a great defender at all.
he could defend but not one of the best in my mind...

Who do you think is a better over-all basketball player between Lebron James and Kevin Durant?

A lot of media hype now is going on for the forthcoming 07 NBA Draft w/ the expected #2 draft, Kevin Durant getting more than half of the media mileage against Greg Oden. Kevin plays in the same position as Lebron and also plays with much versatility as well. So, who do you think will have the advantage if we play one on one Lebron vs. Durant?

Who do you think is a better over-all basketball player between Lebron James and Kevin Durant?basketball tickets

oak riced man be real what sort of query nevermind lets take a look okay lebron an allstar a few times been to finals but durant well he has no rings got knocked out early in ncaa tourney no pro experience yes its true durant has proven beyond doubt that he is great now and lebron has proven nothing so durant is better huh you wanted to hear it so there

Who do you think is a better over-all basketball player between Lebron James and Kevin Durant?nba warriors ,nba teams

There is no way Durant could defeat Lebron James. Kevin Durant still has some maturing to do unlike Lebron James. Durant would have no chance because Lebron James has a lot more expirience. It's like taking a bum from the side of the road and putting him in a CEO position of a company. Not happening! Now, give Durant a few years of NBA expirience and he might have a slight chance against Lebron.
HOLY COW, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

If you knew anything about basketball, you would know that Lebron James is on his own level right now. He has already taken a terrible team to the finals! Google how many records he has already broken at his age, and how many records he is on pace to break.

I think LeBron is going to be the first player to average a triple-double since the Big O.

Kevin was a great player in college. But he sorely needs to improve his strength to compete at this level.

I think Durant will be a good player. But nowhere in the near Galaxy of "Bron Bron."
I know Kevin Durant is a very good player but LeBron James is just amazing. Besides, he is so strong that I believe he can overpower Durant(remember, Durant can't even lift weights). I also think LeBron James is more versatile and of course, more experienced. LeBron James wins this matchup.

But that doesn't mean Durant is not good. I see Durant's potential and I think he is to be a consistent all-star for many years to come.
king James
LeBron. Durant will be very good but as of right now, no one can stop LeBron. He's too big and strong to be stopped and well, any NBA team can stop a 205 lb. kid that cant bench 185.
Lebron James of course
Durant is the better overall basketball player, he can do anything, Lebron is a hype machine only reason he would win 1 on 1 is because he is so strong, his strength is over 50% of his game.
Lebron James no doubt about it
i think lebron is always gunna be better but how can we judge durant? he hasnt even played in the nba
Man come on Lebron would drag him.
lol..cmon,thats easy...lebron.
Durant is way too young and won't be able to do anything close to what Lebron has done for the Cavs. Kevin is coming out ofcollegeand Lebron is now a vet in the NBA. Lebron hands down.
Both of them are pretty good but i'll have to go with Lebron James.
the one and only Lebron

How much money do u think LeBron James accept an offer after his contract in cleveland expired?

How much money do u think LeBron James accept an offer after his contract in cleveland expired?nba logo

Well, Lebron James will most likely be offered the maximum for his age, which would be apporoximately 17 million a year I would say.

I honestly feel, LeBron could be dominating this league right no if he had the sufficient supporting cast. Think about, add a Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Bynum to the Cavs roster. With the superor unselfishness of Lebron, that is one seemingly indomitable team. LeBron will own this league very soon with the adequate constituents.( If he led his mediocre team to the Finals last year, think about a potent cast with Lebron flourishing in his prime.) Therefore, I am highly advice Lebron to either demand another all star added to the Cavs roster, or move on to another team.

How much money do u think LeBron James accept an offer after his contract in cleveland expired?nba video ,nba teams

W/e the ammount of money is gonna be-it's gonna be huge compared to what most of us typing here make... reguardless, it wont be over the top only because he's not going anywhere. He's Akron born and raised..and still travels to Akron for family, friends, haircuts and so forth - his dream besides being the best player he can be is to put his home town / his state on the map (NBA) wise - a dynasty
If the Cavs dont start looking for someone to help LeBron NOW he wont be around very long anyway... LeBron is a competitor, and he wants to win... He needs help or he'll walk... so far the ONLY thing the Cavs has done is trade one supporting cast oozing with mediocrity for another...
iT DEPENDS IF THEY GET HIM BETTER PLAYERS. from the bottom of my heart i think they will drastically improve the roster over the off season

Does Lebron James hurt the integrity of basketball?

First i will start by saying that i am a dedicated Pistons fan as I have been most of my life. So yes i may be a little biased or what not, but I am asking this question as an objective basketball fan. Do you think Lebron James or any other "superstar" hurts the integrity of the game of basketball. Lebron is a great player who only gets better year by year, but it is ridiculous how much he is allowed to get away with because of his "superstar status", and i believe that because of his special treatment he is allowed out there on the court, walks, fouls etc. I have one good example of this when a rebound came up, Tayshaun Prince was under the basket, Lebron was behind him, and Pavlovic was to Prince's right. Next thing Lebron pushes Prince to get the rebound right in front of the official, and Pavlovic got credited with the foul. See to me that is not right and, really makes this league a joke if they are not going to call the actual violations.

Does Lebron James hurt the integrity of basketball?nba tickets

I'm not sure how old you are, but I witnessed Jordan's entire career fromcollegeto the Wizards. The exact same things were said about him. MJ took the game to another level. LB23 is doing the same thing, when basketball needs it most. You can take any given game and refs make the incorrect call. In game 2, Rasheed blatantly pushed Anderson 'don't call me Sanjaya' Verajao down before sinking the go ahead bucket and the refs didn't make the call. I understand the refs not making that call b/c it would've decided the outcome of the game in a major way. Stuff happens, bruh. Some calls get made and others don't.

Does Lebron James hurt the integrity of basketball?nba fights ,nba teams

Same here. it should be standard across the board. But the league knows that if a superstar gets called for fouls with the same frequency as the 8th player in the rotation, he sits. Fans don't buy tix to see superstars ride the pine. Report It

First of all, I am a die-hard Cavaliers fan!!

Now that that is out of the way...Does LBJ get away with a few things? Absolutely! But how many times has he been the victim of a no call? Does game 2 ring a bell? How about last night on the game winner? He was fouled even then and he should have been at the line to try and go up by 3! He was fouled by Prince and Webber on another drive to the basket late in the game! Again...no call! And then he get's the Tech for getting in the face of McDyess! That was uncalled for! If he gets Teched then why does Maxiel not get it too? He came at LBJ and made contact! You see my point yet?

Whether you see it or not, Mr. Taco is correct! And you can stop whining and trying to make excuses any time now! Lebron is the kind of player that this league needs to be saved! Not Kobe...not 'Sheed...not D-Wade...King James!!

You really need to thank Marshall for missing the 3 in game 1...the officials for the no-call at the end of game 2...and pray to GOD that you only have to play us 1 more time this season! I'm sure you don't want THE KING to keep making your "Great Defense" look like a bunch of high schoolers on the court!

Go Lebron!!! Go Boobie, "Z", Sasha, Gooden, Marsh, Larry, Damon, E-Snow, Andy, and the rest of the CAVS!!!!

San Antonio better be ready!!! The CAVS are on a warpath and taking no prisoners!! Lebron is just warming up!!!
ok, Did Rodman hurt the integrity? Was Bill Lambeer a role model? There is no defense in the NBA anymore, LeBron single-handedly won the game last night, why? Because he's pretty good, and referees not only let him play but all.
"First i will start by saying that i am a dedicated Pistons fan as I have been most of my life."

You answered your question with that statement right there. This is about you being a Pistons fan, not about Lebron James supposedly hurting the integrity of basketball. Don't forget that we (I am a Pistons fan, too) have Rasheed Wallace on our team. That right there pretty much takes us out of any discussion about anyone hurting the integrity of the game. Now, if it were Wallace doing it, you wouldn't even have cared, and he does stuff like that all the time. The only reason you think the league is a joke is because we lost. That makes you a poor loser. The fact is that if the Pistons had brought their A-game to the last three games, they wouldn't be in this position in the first place. They have been cocky and lazy all playoffs, and now that they are up against a good team, it is costing them. They need to check their egos in at the door in game 6, or they are going home.
No...officiating hurts the game of basketball...On LeBrons last drive to the hoop...where he scored the bucket with 2.2 seconds...once again after numerous replays show...the refs once again swallowed their whistles.
Don't be a sore loser. The Pistons have had their day. It's our turn now! Go CAVS!
NBA refereeing is not that good. They usually make at least ten bad calls in any game. The only thing consistent is that they make more for the visiting team. They do give the stars the benefit of doubt, but only because they miss half of the game.
Let it go...
Stop your whining in game 2 the guy gets hacked and no fowl and the anouncers are saying he's not a give enough star to get the call. Yes stars get a break in this league the Lebron beat you last night on talent and heart. The refs didn't score any of those three point or deep 2 shots he hit time and time again to tie the game. Truth is the Cavs has outplayed the Pistons and this series should have been a sweep or at the very least over last night.
they did call the foul on LeBron not Pavlovic.

what about game 2? LeBron got fouled twice on that play and the refs didnt call it.

youre just mad that the pistons got beat by LeBron all by himself
Its not as bad as what Jordan used to get away with! Jordan would murder someone, get the steal without a call. He was allowed to do it because the NBA was in a funk. They needed Jordan to bring it back to life. And about that foul, right after that, they switched it to Lebron, it was hard to hear, but the anouncers said it got switched.
Yeah I'm a Pistons fan as well just like everybody else in here but what really pisses me off is that the Deeetroit Defense wasn't in in lat nights game I mean look at how man ytimes the Pistons tried to stop Lebron James form making baskets 0 they didn't give a $hit if Lebron Made it or not all they careda bout is there position of the ball and that really really hurt them because it was Lebron's shooting and Detroit's lack of Defense and blocking that gave us thate loss yesterday and whats worse than that is Detroit is going to Cleveland down 3-2 and we haven't won not 1 game in Cleveland since the series began and this time we don't have Ben Wallace to rescue us. You might be asking yourself Ben Wallace? Yes that's right Ben Wallace he was our D he wouldn't let Lebron go right through him he would at least try to block his shot if not block then get in his way or something not just stand there like Billups and hamilton did in the very final seconds of the 2nd OT and let Lebron Score at will. And then I forgot who inbounded the ball I think it was Prince anyways whoever it was gave the ball to the worst person why the hell would you give it to Billups he MISSED the shot he MISSESD the oppertunitty to tie the goddamn game WHAT THA *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Richard HAmilton should of gotten the ball not Billups, Chauncy Billups should of shotthe ball from the 3pt line so that the Pistons won the game and Detroit goes to Cleveland up 3 games to 2 instead of that Detriot has to go to Cleveland DOWN 3 games to 2 and face elimination IT'S VERY POSSIBLE THE DETRIOT PISTONS WILL NOT GO TO THE NBA FINALS THIS YEAR based on their performence in game 5.
No,he doesn't the integrity of basketball. If you are a "superstar" in this league you play hard a second you are one the floor and sometimes you might have an occasional walk it's part of playing hard it happens and it's not his fault that the Ref's don't call it. Mean while if you want to start talking about hurting the integrity of basketball then what about every time that the pistons play the Cavs that some Cav's player ends up getting cut and having stitches because a Piston threw them to the ground. This you could say hurts the integrity of basketball. I personally don't believe none of this hurts basketball because they are playing hard and that's all anyone wants to see. Hopefully they keep it up in game 6.
Did you sleep through games 1 %26amp; 2? No fouls at all called on behalf of the "superstar" game one. And then hacked on the potential winning shot game two with no call. I think that just pi**ed him off enough that he's now playing up to where he should have been. Detroit has been given every opportunity to win this series and the Cavs have managed to defeat both the pistons and the officials. Last night was no exception.... how about wallace's "block" which was all arm on LeBron with no call. That would have ended the game in regulation! Shut up and take your loss like a grown up.
Lenorb yells at the refs and the refs start sweating. He owns them. He gets away with murder on offense.
First of all they changed the foul to Lebron.

Yeah...no doubt "superstars" get bailed out but not all the time.
david stern is more at fault than lebron....he is good but ol sterny is ruining the game
Actually, the Detroit Pisons general manager hurt the integrity of the Pistons by not keeping Ben Wallace. If Ben Wallace were on the Pistons, they would beat the Cavs in this series. He isn't, and they won't. Lebron gets calls, the Pistons get calls. Its' physical, the way the Pistons like it.

Chauncy Bilups body checked Verajo into the floor as Andy was sitting on the court- no call. Get over it, and guard James better.
Perhaps you didn't see games 1 and 2, in which LeBron was mugged countless times down the stretch, but he wasn't able to get a whistle from the officials on fouls that anyone with eyes could easily see were fouls.

So, if anything, that was special treatment for the hometown Pistons.

Anyway, this series could have been a 4-game sweep. If the Cavaliers had held on towards the end of games 1 and 2, instead of wilting ( and not benefitting from foul calls that they deserved to benefit from ), this series would have been a 4-game sweep by Cleveland.

And not that I am trying to change the subject, but, why is it that when there are real jerks like Danny Fortson and Rasheed Wallace in the NBA, no one says anything, but when a guy with class like LeBron comes along, people want to critisize him? It's just jealousy.

And unfortunately, we will have to look forward to a new class of guys without class, like Jokim Noah.

Also, the fact that James wasn't awarded the first-team All NBA just reinforces the fact that often it's about a popularity contest, instead of skill and effectiveness.
There were calls that could have been made on both ends. There were at least four when Lebron went to the hoop and was fouled but there was not call. How can he be hurting the intergity of basketball when he is not the one making the calls? And I don't want to hear about a conspiracy to get Lebron in the finals. Plus when you are built like a football player, there is bound to be contact when you go to the hoop. If the refs called every little bump, the game would last ten hours.

P.S.:And I thought the Pistons were physical? Now they can't handle a 22 yr old kid?
Actually, they did credit that foul to LeBron. The commentator said it was credited to Pavlovic and then he corrected himself and said it was charged to LeBron.

Know what you're talking about before you talk ****.
Lebron might just save basketball. I know Kobe's not going to do it. Last night's was the most enjoyable playoff game so far.
"First i will start by saying that i am a dedicated Pistons fan ...... but I am asking this question as an objective basketball fan"

Dude, that right there in messed up, do you agree? You are bashing Lebron, you are a Pistons fan, and you try to be "objective?" Are you kidding?

Did you see how Rasheed shoved Varajeo, and never got fouled? Did you see how James attacked the rim in the second game with Hamilton's hands all over him and never got a call?

Sometimes life isn't fair, but it isn't a reason to become a hater.

I always respected the Pistons, and always will. Pistons are the reason that Cavs are where they are today.

P.S. I really respect people like Mr. Taco.

There is usually no one to blame but yourself, but it is much easier to blame EVERYONE but yourself.
After the no call in game 2 buddy?? Come on, get over it, you are just mad cuz LeBron tooled on your beloved Pistons.

Yeah Lebron is in a league of his own. A league below VC %26amp; AI. And people have the nerve to compare him to Kobe?
Vince Carter? Nah. LeBron only has two dunks in his arsenal. The statue of liberty and the regular dunk. Iverson? Nah. LeBron's drives are robotic, Iverson's are smooth.
for lebron to be more than AI and VC he has to have something they dont, an championship. Until then he is in their league
why point him with those 2 because they don't have rings because they carried their teams on their backs at one time other than that they have nothing in common except for the sport
Ok, for the record I like Lebron. Now let's take Vince Carter out of the discussion and no we are not talking about dunking. Vince has had to many injuries. Now it is Lebron vs Iverson. I think Iverson has had a better career. He was MVP( Lebron has not won it yet), for a time until recently improved his scoring average every year in the league, has a better 3pt percentage then Lebron and is much better defensively leading the NBA in steals per game and on the all defensive team, Lebron has done neither. Lebron is great no doubt, I am not hating, but if I need a game winning shot , I choose iverson and I think for a whole career Iverson is better.
they are all the same..no rings
